Seats, harness, steering wheel. Stereo did its job and appeared too OEM to grab I guess. Opening my car door and seeing this was absolutely heartbreaking. Fuck people. I don’t think my insurance will cover any of this
Is there any point in filing a police report for this?

Oh ass. Yes definitely file a police report. Gather your receipts. Call your insurance and keep on ‘em until they buckle
Put the word out to every outlet you know. Those parts’ll likely be for sale soon; some watchful eyes may be helpful in catching the fucks

Yeah, I think so. They may watch Craigslist/Ebay/FB Marketplace and see if your stuff is getting sold.

That’s super shitty. Yes, file a police report. Watch Craigslist for your stuff. Go get back it if you can. In my experience, police are not very reliable in recovery of stolen items. You may need to do this yourself.

So sorry to hear this dude. That’s terrible.
Definitely file a report, and as others have said, gather receipts. I recently had receipts be invaluable for the HEMIWagon, and after going through them, insurance INCREASED the value of the car.
I don’t know about you, but I pay a lot for insurance, and I did not take no for an answer. While it’s not always easy, see if you can find a local rep to speak to about it as well.

Fuck, man. Definitely file a police report and get in touch with insurance asap. I wouldn’t be too hopeful but there’s a chance they (insurance) could help out.
Keep an eye out for these parts on craigslist, keep your police report number handy, and when you see them come up for sale, you know what to do.

Probably a small posse building a car of their own. Apart from removing the stuff, did they damage anything?
I’m installing a home security camera system next week. They say that video doesn’t help perps get punished, but at least we know what they look like.

The police reports keep administrative people employed, so you’d be contributing to the economy. Otherwise, unless you have camera footage, maybe not much point, unless insurance covers it and demands it (good luck).
Sorry to see that, they must have known what they were after, someone saw your car before, probably a local job. Seattle metro is huge for small time property crime.

Definitely file a report. If other cars in your complex are broken into having multiple police reports may force them to at least install cameras.
Also, if someone is caught you may get lucky and have your stuff still in their position.
Insurance depends on your coverage level. If you have comprehensive it very well may cover it. Hopefully you have receipts so you can push for actual replacement value. Otherwise it should cover the cost of stock seats and steering wheels.
If you’re active on any Miata forums let them know. That way if anyone spots the parts for sale they won’t be unknowingly buying stolen or arts. It probably won’t help get them back, but the harder these parts are to sell the less tempting they are to thieves.

Fuck man, that sucks!! I’ve definitely worried about coming out to my Miata and finding my Drivers seat missing one day. Just because it says “Bride” on it is sure to make someone think its expensive. Even though its just a cheap knockoff. I would care much more about my harness, thats worth more than the seat.
At least Miata parts are cheap so it won’t be too hard to replace. But really the shitty part is there is no possible way to prevent this in the future. Its just impossible to really secure a Miata. I guess the only upside is the car didnt get stolen too. But oh man I would be livid and upset and just frustrated.
Also, do you have renters insurance? I dont recall if you live in an apartment. But renters insurance covers your stuff being stolen from your car, subject to your deductible. That could save you some dough for sure.

Video usually doesn’t help because it’s grainy/low quality. If you have a high enough resolution and a half decent camera designed for the distance you have it aimed at, it’s amazing at picking up peoples’ faces.
The problem is that the decent cameras with PTZ support are ridiculously expensive, and even just a simple pan/tilt function is still expensive.

In the mean time, I would also recommend looking on craigslist in your area. Some REALLY dumb criminals will post that shit immediately on there and it could be an easy find. Idk what the recommendation is to do if you find the thief, maybe report it to the police. But its the only thing I could imagine doing.

There is no value in locking a miata, for that very reason. Locking the car only guarantees your top will be cut. Even leaving it unlocked might not save the top. I’ve been tempted to leave a message on my window saying ITS UNLOCKED TAKE WHAT YOU WANT BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT BREAK MY WINDOW OR CUT MY TOP!!!
Also, Miatas would still be pretty darn easy to get into even with the door locked. The soft top to window seal is not very hard to just push through and reach in there to unlock it.

He had bright red Bride seats. Those are generally an easy sell for someone, especially if they pretended they were real ones being sold at a discount. Plus its super easy to remove unfortunately. Power tool will have the four bolts out in 20 seconds no problem.

Man I’m seriously bummed this happened to you. I’ve read the revenge posts and I’ve been down that same road. My favorite one is making some hydrofluoric acid (about 15 bux from Walmart, not traced) a big jar of calcium carbonate, covering myself up prophylactically. Super soaker with a sealed jar of the acid. Find the guy (a lot of ways for this) trace him and spray him on the back of the neck with that solution when it’s raining. He won’t think much of it but it won’t take long for it to do its job. It’ll break down the bone structure of his upper c series vertebrae rendering him a vegetable over a painfully chronic amount of time. Only way to prevent that is a calcium paste applied right over the point of insult. Not many docs look for that so more than likely they’re fucked as are their immediate family because they have to care for the fucker.
Moving on is the better path, you’re on your way up in life, I think everybody here sees that. This will be a small potatoes loss in the grand scheme of things. Learning hurts in every instance a lesson is delivered. You’ve learned from it obviously, so just keep on trucking with your plan. Not everybody is that astute.

Oh man.
Yes, file a police report. If in the off chance it is found or the thieves are dumb enough to get caught for something else, having a police report will trigger that the items belong to you for return. I’ve heard of stories of things sitting in evidence lockers or auctioned off to pay for the thieves’ defense because they didn’t know the owners.
Also if you do find a fishy post, having a police report with product numbers and receipts would help prove they are yours and would get the police to act, whereas if you wanted assistance in recovery you would have to go through a long process of proving it was stolen and you have reason to believe it was yours.
